2010 WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION EUROPE

 

13 countries qualify by preliminary competition by means of 9 qualifying groups with 53 entries (8 groups of 6 teams and 1 group of 5 teams), playing a home-and-away round robin. The 9 group winners qualify directly for the final tournament. The 8 best runners-up of the 9 groups will make up 4 play-offs (home-and-away). The winners of those 4 pairings determine the other 4 qualified teams for the final competition.
